Art Field Work Experience

2013-2023      Art and Science in the Woods Camp Instructor and Instructors’ Aid: The Sun Foundation Art and Science in the Woods Camp, Washburn, IL

• As an Instructor (2019 + 2023), instruct students ages 8-18 in drawing, painting, or ceramics techniques, set up/take down classroom and supplies, process and fire all students’ work in a kiln, organize lesson plans and cater to special needs. The aid position includes helping an Instructor run classes and assist students.

• Note: I have made two shirt designs used for the Camp, the latter being the 50th Anniversary design in 2023, used on shirts and other merchandise to sell in the name of the camp. Original design was auctioned, will all proceeds going to the Camp.

2013-Present   Studio Artist

• Make artwork for a personal body of work to participate in local, regional, and national shows as well as make commission work, i.e. making artwork for a specific person or purpose based on given specifications. As of 2022, I have ceramics, painting, and drawing studios at home with a large range of mediums.

• Teach children, teen, and adult short-term art classes focusing on ceramics, drawing, and painting. Operate ceramics studio (i.e. operate kilns and fire student work, clean studio, make glazes, recycle clay)

• Clean, repair, maintain, and operate the kiln yard. Responsibilities includes firing student work in electric, gas, salt and soda kilns.

• Maintain glaze lab and replenish studio glazes, slips, stains, etc. Responsibilities include mixing glazes, stains, and slips from recipes.
